Parenting Tip: help your child R.A.I.N. on negative thoughts

When it rains, it pours!

This holds true for our negative thoughts -- especially for kids. When one tough thought pops up, it seems that several more can flood in. Instead of running for cover when the storm builds, we can teach our kids an effective strategy to embrace these thoughts with compassion.

Our minds are adept at creating big storms. Sometimes, our minds are so creative that we actually believe it! By using the rain techniques, kids can learn to surround their negative thinking with compassion in order to move through the storm.

The RAIN technique was first introduced by Michele McDonald, co-founder of Vipassana Hawai'i
